Coconut story

Travelling around Philippines you may see many coconut trees… And those who read our blog regularly might notice that we start to be obsessed by coconuts 😀 So let me share one of many coconut stories we have…

So Honzik could not resist when he saw small coconut tree and started to explore it more. He found one on the ground and started to hit with it to open it. But it seemed to be very though coconut so it was almost impossible to get rid of the external shell. So after few minutes of trying two guys came on a motorbike, one holding very big machete… They were probably laughing out when they saw our opening method. So the guy just took a coconut and using the machete he easily put the external skin off 🙂 The other one started to climb the tree like a monkey to give us more 🙂 Finally, you learn few basic things. First, machete is very useful tool. Second, Filippino kindness will never stop surprising you 🙂 And third, small coconut tree has small coconuts, big palm big ones (no surprise :-D) So if you wish to get the big coconuts,  grade A from climbing might be very useful 😀

Honzik tak nemohl odolat, kdyz jsme po ceste narazili na mensi palmu, a zacal prozkoumavat jeji okoli a nasel jeden pekny kokos na zemi. Jak ho ale otevrit? No muzete zkusit s nim busit do zeme, ale vrchni obal je velmi odolny. Po nekolika minutach snazeni prijeli dva typci na motorce, jeden s macetou v ruce… Nejspise se popadali za bricho, kdyz videli nas marny zpusob, jak se do kokosu dostat. Typek tak capnul kokos a pomoci macety ho jednoduse zbavil vrchni slupky a otevrel 🙂 Druhy zas vyskocil na palmu jako opice a zacal sundavat dalsi kokosy ze stromu… Nakonec se naucite nekolik zakladnich veci. Za prve, maceta je velmi uzitecny nastroj. Za druhe, Filipinci vas nikdy neprestanou prekvapovat svym otevrenym srdcem a ochotou 🙂 A za treti, mala palma ma male kokosy, velka velke (zadne prekvapeni :-D). Takze pokud chcete hodne velke kokosy, jedicka ze splhu se dost hodi 😀
